This activity provides intensive case management, support and education to young people aged 12-18 years in the Banksia Detention Centre, for three months pre-release and three months post-release.

DBTeen is an evidence-based multi-family treatment program to address emotional dysregulation amongst 14-18 year olds. It has been custom built for WA’s primary care context, based on Marsha Linehan’s Dialectical Behaviour Therapy protocol. Young people, together with their family members, learn psychological skills through 12 weekly group sessions. Individualised phone support and a tailored phone app are available between sessions to support participants as they put their new skills into practice to manage challenging situations.

This activity engages young people through assertive outreach and provides alcohol and other drug assessments, brief interventions and support to access Drug and Alcohol Youth Services (DAYS) programs and other services.

The Youth Severe activity is a co-commissioned activity between WAPHA and the WA Education Department. Partners Boab Health Services and Kununurra District High School deliver a person-centred model that detects, intervenes, treats and prevents mental health issues among youth enrolled at Kununurra District High School The activity provides a range of psychological, medical and social interventions to youth aged 12 – 18 years with, or at risk of, severe mental health issues.

The activity provides long term intensive case management to young people who are at risk, or abusing, alcohol and/or other drugs, and support to their families. Working collaboratively with the Western Australian Police Force and Departments of Justice and Communities, this outreach case management program provides an alcohol and drug screening and brief intervention model of care, along with culturally safe assisted referrals to housing, education and vocational services.
