Residential Aged Care, Palliative Care: A Role for Everyone

Like the Palliative Care sector, Aged Care is founded upon a multi-disciplinary team. Non-clinical staff are an essential part of the residential aged care team in providing great care, supportive environments, companionship, and purpose to a resident’s life.

This workshop explores normalising Advance Care Planning (ACP) conversations for these Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACF) staff members to enable them to have the confidence and knowledge to support these conversations with carers, residents, family, and friends. It is not designed to train non-clinical staff to complete ACP with residents. Instead, it will enable ACP is supported and understood in practice.

Supporting this knowledge, the workshop will also identify what good palliative care is and their role in implementing it with their person centred care.
