Industry panellists

Two industry experts will share their knowledge on the night and take part in panel discussions following their presentations: Dr Leena Patel (Medical Director Acute Care WA – Silverchain)

  • As a GP with a passion for holistic health care in the community, Dr Patel’s work as part of the Silverchain Home Hospital team has led to significant reductions in length of stay and complications for hyperemesis gravidarum patients.
  • Topic: Tackling nausea and vomiting in pregnancy
  • Learning outcome:
  • Identify risk factors and secondary contributors to hyperemesis gravidarum and provide support through multimodal management plans.
  • Identify patients that might be suitable for home hospital management for hyperemesis gravidarum, mastitis, and more.

Donna Kimpton (Clinician Dietitian, Women’s and Newborns Health Service – King Edward Memorial Hospital and Osborne Park Hospital)

  • With a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics, Ms Kimpton works cross all areas of obstetric and antenatal care including eating disorders and bariatric portfolios. She is passionate about delivering patient-centred care and applying evidence-based practice to achieve optimal nutrition outcomes in the area of women’s health.
  • Topic: Nutritional challenges in hyperemesis gravidarum
  • Learning outcome: Understand nutritional considerations for patients with hyperemesis gravidarum, including at risk populations, and how to support them.
