What type of urgent care is treated by participating practices?
Participating practices treat patients with urgent (same-day) non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses that are typically in the usual scope of general practice, including:
- musculoskeletal and orthopaedic injuries
- gastrointestinal illnesses
- illnesses of the eye, ear, nose and throat
- stings, bites, rashes and wound infections
- abrasions and minor lacerations
- urinary tract infections.
GP Urgent Care Network
The WA State Government has funded a public awareness campaign to encourage people to book an online appointment through the GP Urgent Care Network when they have a minor illness or injury that requires urgent medical attention.
How do people access the GP Urgent Care Network?
When people need urgent care, they can quickly find and book a same-day appointment with a general practice in the GP Urgent Care Network by visiting the healthdirect website or calling 1800 022 222.
Participating practices set their own opening times and their next available appointment is displayed on the booking website.
